Learn the Process of Capsule Manufacturing

Pharmaceutical industry depends on contract manufacturers for custom formulation of medicines. They hold specialization in encapsulation, packaging and labeling.

Let us understand the process of capsule manufacturing.

•    First, the raw materials are sent for ensuring the quality. Once it released by quality control, the gelatin and hot demineralized water are blended under vacuum in a steel Gelatin Melting System.

•    After aging in stainless steel obtaining tanks, the solution of gelatin is moved to steel feed tanks.

•    Then dyes and opacifants and water if required are also added to the gelatin in the feed tanks to accomplish the preparation process of gelatin. The feed tanks are used to gravity-feed gelatin into the capsule machine.

•    The gelatin is gravity fed to dipper section from the feed tank. The capsules are molded on to steel pin bars that are dipped into the gelatin solution.

•    After dipping, the pin bars lift to the upper deck enabling the cap and body to position on the pins.

•    The pin bars cross the upper and lower kilns of capsule machine drying system.

•    Here, slowly moving air that is precisely controlled for humidity, volume and temperature clears away the required amount of moisture from the capsule halves.

•    Precision controls consistently observe temperature, humidity and gelatin viscosity all over the production process.

•    After drying is complete, the pin bars come in contact with the table area that positions the capsule halves to strip from the pins in the particular Automatic section.

•    Then capsule halves are separately stripped from the pins in the automatic section.

•    The cap and body lengths are accurately measured and trimmed.

•    The caps and capsule bodies are attached automatically in the joiner blocks.

•    Ready capsules are thrown onto a conveyer belt that pushes them out to a container.

Perfect capsules are then sent for imprinting of client logo which is done with the help of high-speed capsule printing machines. Now, capsules are ready to be sterilized and packaged.
